Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Yesterday, we ventured into Los Angeles to go visit LACMA. We wandered through an American Art Exhibit, which included modern American art, a European art exhibit, which had a Picasso section, and a few sculpture exhibits. We were really looking forward to the "Tim Burton" exhibit. I really am unsure where Tim Burton's mind is, this said, I still find his work interesting and I'm jealous of his ability to think up such out of the ordinary characters and stories. In my opinion, the most interesting part of the exhibit was reading all the notes he had jotted down on his art. It shows the observer exactly what he was thinking as he was creating the story/artwork. It's amazing how much of a story just one sketch tells. I feel like this stories are so twisted that is anyone but Tim Burton thought of them, they would socially unacceptable. Much of the artwork was very raw, from and personal collection, and left untitled. This was very easy to appreciate, and it helped you make a personal connection with Tim Burton. Not only is LACMA a great attraction, you also get the LA experience with the yummy food trucks that line Wilshire Blvd (The street on which LACMA is located).

Tim Burton exhibition coming to LACMA in May 2011

This will definitely be interesting to say the least. He's one of my favorite directors for his individual stlye as an artist. There's no one else like his and no one more deserving of an exhibit.

The show is scheduled to run May 29 to Oct. 31, 2011.
@ The Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Cost: $12-$20
I'll definitely be going!
Will you?

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Premiere" 2011

On May 7th, 2011 the premiere for the newest "Pirates" movie took place. Unfortunately, Bloom to Perish was denied at the door due to some press confusion, but it's something we were very excited about so I am covering it anyways.
At 9:00 p.m. the celebrities began walking down the red carpet.

Johnny Depp wore a white pseudo-tuxedo jacket.
Penelope Cruz wore a custom Marchesa gown and Chopard jewlery.
New-comer and a personal favorite of mine, Astrid Berges-Frisbey shined during her American debut as an actress.

All the benefits from the world premiere will be contributed to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Coachella 2012

Already we're planning ahead!
Apparently next year the event is to be held over two weekends rather than over a single weekend like it has in the past. There is a rumor that the lineup will be the same both weekends.

Advanced sale begins tomorrow. Buy ahead, they sold out quickly last year!
